Tudor Hydronaut II

A steel, unidirectional bezel with a 41-mm case on a black rubber strap keeps the Tudor Hydronaut II in line with the dive watch dictums. The depth rating is nothing special as this one goes to 660 feet, but finding this combination with a self-winding mechanical movement is rarely seen. The black, matte face and truncated hour, minute and second hands tell you what you need to know, but they also have a vigor to their placement on the dial. The shorter lengths of these hands allow you to see more of the dial, which is impressive in its simplicity.

Not all dive watches are created equal, which is why you need to take a second look at the Hydronaut II if you’re searching for a suitable watch to take down under. The raised name plate on the band is reminiscent of the Bulgari sport watch line, but Tudor has more athleticism and youth.

As with all dive watches, the Hydronaut II can and will go deeper than you will ever attempt or survive, so forget about breaking it. Its style, however, does not translate as easily from work to play. The raised lettering on the rubber strap prevent this watch from being taken too seriously, which isn’t always a bad attribute for a watch.
